வெயிலும் உதிர் மணலும் தினம் மீட்டெடுக்கும் கருவாட்டு வாழ்க்கை-உப்பு கரிக்கும் முதல் பாதி மணியின் புது அலை. கிறித்துவ இறையியலையே வானமும் கடலுமாய் கொள்ளும் சமூகத்திற்க்கு தேவனும் சாத்தானுமே கண்படும் எல்லைகள். இந்த இரண்டு எல்லைகளையும் வெவ்வேறு தருணங்களில் தொட்டு திரும்பும் நான்கு பாத்திரங்களின் கதையை திரைமொழிந்ததில் பாதிதான் வெற்றி.

பியாட்ரிஸ் - தமிழ் திரையின் ஒரு தேவ மகளாய் வரவேண்டியவள் வெரும் சினிமா லூசுப் பெண்ணாக மட்டுமே எஞ்சிப்போகிறாள். முதல் பாதி பார்த்து ”இது என் படம் போலவே இல்லையே” என நினைத்தோ என்னவோ மணி காபி குடித்த பின் காட்சிகளை வெட்டி எறிந்திருக்கிறார். கதையை கரையிலேயே வைத்து விட்டு தடாலடியாக இறுதி சண்டைக்கு நடுக்கடலில் குதித்து விடுகிறார்.

திரையில் தோன்றும் அத்துனை துணைப் பாத்திரங்களும் அட்டகாசம். கெளதமும் துளசியும் அழகு. தோற்றமே நடிப்பாகிப் போனதில், அர்விந்த்சாமி நடிசிருக்கார். ஆனால் அர்ஜுன் சார் - இது உங்க போட் இல்லை......!!!

மஞ்சளும் நீலமுமாய் ராஜீவின் கண்சிமிட்டாத காமிரா வண்ணமயம். ரஹ்மானுடன் சேர்ந்து வைரமுத்துவும் கார்க்கியும் மணியை திணறடிக்கிறார்கள். ஈடு கொடுக்க முடியாமல், பாடல் காட்சியமைப்பில் கற்பனை வறண்டு மணி இன்னமும் “அலைபாய்ந்து’க்கொண்டே இருக்கிறார்.

“எனக்கு வீட்ல சோறு இல்லை, அதான் விடுதியில சேர்ந்தேன்” - “எனக்கு வீட்ல தியானம் இல்லை. அதை தேடி தான் இங்க சேர்ந்தேன்”என வசனங்களிலேயே கதையின் தளங்களை நிறுவிக்கொண்டே செல்கிறார் ஜெ.எம். உன்னிப்பாக கவனித்தால் குறைந்தபட்சம் அறுபது நாகை
வட்டார வசவு சொற்களை கற்கலாம். நாவல் வடிவிற்க்காக காத்திருப்போம்.

கரைக்கும் கடலுக்கும் மாற்றி மாற்றி இழுத்துப்போடும் அலையின் மீதான மனிதர்களின் வாழ்க்கையை பாதியில் தொலைத்த பாவத்திற்க்கு மணி பொறுப்பேற்க்க வேண்டும். பலமான நங்கூரமிட்ட கப்பல் இரண்டாம் பாதியின் இரண்டாம் பாதியில் மூழ்கிப்போகிறது. கரை சேராதது கப்பல் மட்டுமல்ல கடலும் தான்.

Kahaani

Heartening to have every lovely colourful face appearing on screen filled with casual expression abiding the character. Salutes to the director for having touched the nuances which might rarely be recognized. A thriller on the canvas of colourful and jubiliating Bengal. Chord connecting well the backdrop and the plot. Dialogues are its best - not a chance missed. Camera and the cuts gives a constant pace to the mystery that runs deep all through the course except for its "overdoing" in last 5 mins. That might be too much for an audience to flounder on their way back home. May be thats the success this movie demands. Oh well, Vidhya, No worries! You can now decorate the National award in your living room with Pride - Just that you have received it well in advance with a wrong label! - Mar 11, 2012

Haywire

It should be just looked as Soderbergh's experiment in "strong female" films - who desperately switch genres. Far less experienced Carano (if she resembles Sasha Grey - hmmmm so, how was GFE?) stands tall with her real martial arts talent amidst the great male cast - Bandreas, Mich Doughlas, McGregor and Fassbender. Cleanly shot music free stunts, acrobatic fight tricks captured in artful angles, Vintage style Jazz score...while all these set the artistic background but only to a wafer thin, much predictable - keep it simple - plot. It would stay memorable for electifying knucle breaks, eccentric cinematography and Carano's dynamic screen figure. Thanks Soderbergh, at least, it is not Angelina! - Jan 20, 2012

ஹிந்தியின் ஹிட்டை சரி தவறுகளோடு அச்சு பிசகாமல் தமிழுக்கு தாரை வார்த்து தப்பித்துக் கொண்டார் ஷங்கர்.

அங்கங்கே தனக்கே உரிய டச்சுடன். (Duplicate சாவி உண்மை தெரிய வரும் காட்சியில் சத்யராஜ் இரண்டு ரிமோட்டுடன் இரண்டு டிவி பார்ப்பது). தமிழ் வசனத்தில் extra மெருகு. அமீரின் எனர்ஜி மிஸ்ஸிங் என்றாலும் விஜய் இயல்பாகவே பொருந்துகிறார். சத்யனும் சத்தியராஜும் toppers.Dolly ஷாட்டை தாறு மாறாக பயன்படுத்தியிருக்கிறார்கள் . Sherlock Holmes - Games only Sherlock can play!

Though at first Sherlock seems to be mimicking all that he did in past venture, but the ideas are yet different and thus the value of information is an addendum as always! Though certain capabilities are far fetched, he will not be the much followed detective otherwise. 

Probably, Watson is the first side kick who adds "super" to the super-heroes. The chemistry, literally, works well here. Hans Zimmer's composition evolves through the situations - climbs on the suspense, loosens the mystery. Darkest are more haunting with his toned string orchestration.

The charming nature of this duo is heavily built on the comedy as much as it is on detective and stunt skills. The games mystical moves are well balanced and that make this fantasy action more brainy! The Europe was brought back to its early 18s but the mythical darkness only gives more dramatic atmosphere.

But unlike last franchise, the plot, knot and the solution is more logical. Robert Downy Jr. and Jude law share such a pleasant presence in the screen. They are now more fitting. 

It may not be a jump from Burj Khalifa but it is the most gripping and tight lined narration best told in this season except for the husky, fast paced tighter conversations, unmatched speedy Sherlock thoughts and the more eyes paining darker situations. May be it is the best "The end", prompting the sequel..simple and stylish!! - Dec 18, 2011
