Heartening to have every lovely colourful face appearing on screen filled with casual expression abiding the character. Salutes to the director for having touched the nuances which might rarely be recognized. A thriller on the canvas of colourful and jubiliating Bengal. Chord connecting well the backdrop and the plot. Dialogues are its best - not a chance missed. Camera and the cuts gives a constant pace to the mystery that runs deep all through the course except for its "overdoing" in last 5 mins. That might be too much for an audience to flounder on their way back home. May be thats the success this movie demands. Oh well, Vidhya, No worries! You can now decorate the National award in your living room with Pride - Just that you have received it well in advance with a wrong label! - Mar 11, 2012Monday, March 12, 2012

Haywire
It should be just looked as Soderbergh's experiment in "strong female" films - who desperately switch genres. Far less experienced Carano (if she resembles Sasha Grey - hmmmm so, how was GFE?) stands tall with her real martial arts talent amidst the great male cast - Bandreas, Mich Doughlas, McGregor and Fassbender. Cleanly shot music free stunts, acrobatic fight tricks captured in artful angles, Vintage style Jazz score...while all these set the artistic background but only to a wafer thin, much predictable - keep it simple - plot. It would stay memorable for electifying knucle breaks, eccentric cinematography and Carano's dynamic screen figure. Thanks Soderbergh, at least, it is not Angelina! - Jan 20, 2012Saturday, January 14, 2012

Why this Dolly வெறி? All is "again" well. - Jan 13, 2012

Sherlock Holmes - Games only Sherlock can play!
The charming nature of this duo is heavily built on the comedy as much as it is on detective and stunt skills. The games mystical moves are well balanced and that make this fantasy action more brainy! The Europe was brought back to its early 18s but the mythical darkness only gives more dramatic atmosphere. It may not be a jump from Burj Khalifa but it is the most gripping and tight lined narration best told in this season except for the husky, fast paced tighter conversations, unmatched speedy Sherlock thoughts and the more eyes paining darker situations. May be it is the best "The end", prompting the sequel..simple and stylish!! - Dec 18, 2011
Mission Accomplished - Ghost Protocol
What would you wait 2 hours in the queue for? Melancholy acting in a high emoted drama? Documenting soulfully the true events? art house deliverables? Nah...If not Rajinikanth it should be at least Tom Cruise in a knuckle Breaking action, tensed spring high fly stunts, high voltage power pack. You have it all here.
That too - extra large - IMAX scenes. Screen plays the trick when it rises and ebbs magnificently giving not a moment to realize you have your eyes zoomed out, already.
If not Afghanistan, Pakistan, whateversthans.....it is old fashioned Russia - Nuclear bomb - save the world - sow MI5.
Even before the set rolled on the floor, the obvious was Tom, the saviour. But expectations were for the stunt brilliance and the gripping screenplay with a content. While "Ghost" delivers the former trembles in the latter, "the protocol". Movie kicks off with the series of events - the Prison, Russia and Dubai - each shares special credit on adrenaline pumping. Well toned and tight fit Tom is amazing, still. But he neither has a strong villain to fight against nor an interesting, note worthy cause to fight for. Actions drains when the plot moves to India, incidentally though.
After you have your scales set high, the climax should be the cliff. But it just flashes and turns off like an indicator at the Car parking - believe that's where this high voltage finally shuts down. Not to miss, Anil Kapoor fits "the only comedian" role well. Felt if the mission these days are missing John woo's emotion grip which ultimately becomes the mind blog once all the gimmicks simmer. Noteworthy for the IMAX captures. A no brain but a very entertainer.
As you leave what is that flight sequences trickling your mind - chopping the tail, guys roping down from the sky - haunting music with a man dropping a mask.. Yeah, if you miss the teaser scenes of Dark Knight Rises, better get a ticket to where it plays. That's the next thing to wait in the queue for! - Dec 18, 2011
